The Room Tidying Pickup Robot

This robot picks up objects from the floor and when it reverse, it beeps. It is a remote control robot but it can be run in autonomous mode under which it utilizes it's four infrared eyes to locate objects between eight to twelve feet range. While working it says sentences like "Let's get to work!". Once the object is located it places in the back cargo bay. The robot also says "too heavy for me" upon encountering a heavy object. One of it's application that I came across is to lift LEGO bricks off the floor when the kids are done playing. It has six rubber wheels which provides grip over fine floors and smooth surfaces. Sturdy ABS construction. This robot requires six AA batteries and three AAA batteries.

Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA III

The ever increasing data transfer rate in Hard Disk Drives (HDD) is astonishing. When I opened my eyes in IT field it was PATA a.k.a. IDE HDD which provided throughput upto 8 Mb/s followed by Enhanced IDE or EIDE which took the throughput to 16 Mb/s. When SATA a.k.a. SATA I HDD was introduced, it was a big jump. Not only it provided the throughput upto 1.5 Gb/s (or 1500 Mb/s) but the size of the interface/connector got reduced by almost 70 percent. With the introduction of SATA II later, the throughput got doubled i.e. 3Gb/s. Now with SATA III, the throughput got doubled again i.e. 6Gb/s. For sure I can imagine 12Gb/s throughput right around the corner. I came across this Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB with SATA III interface for 89.99 USD today on URL. Three years ago, I purchased 1TB HDD for 250 USD. It was SATA II. Now you can buy SATA II 1 TB (terabyte) HDD for around 50 USD from tigerdirect store: http://www.tigerdirect.com. As far as reduction in size of interface is concern, I do not see it happening in the near future but the time it gets reduced further for sure it will not be called SATA, I think. You can read more about SATA @ URL including but not limited to pin-layout, eSATA a.k.a External SATA used for external SATA HDD enclosure, power supply attachment interface etc.

3ware PCI Express 4 SATA II RAID Controller Card

This 3ware 9650SE-4LPML RAID controller card is excellent for small and medium scale business. The SATA II interface provides up to 3 Gb/s of transfer speed. Remember SATA I is upto 1.5 Gb/s. Some of the best qualities of a RAID controller card is hot swap, hot spare and SMTP based email notification. This card all these qualities. It tested and certified for Microsoft Windows 2003/XP/2000, Red Hat Linux, SuSE Linux, Fedora Linux, 2.4 Linux kernel, 2.6 Linux kernel, FreeBSD operating systems. It has on board RAM as cache memory of 256 MB DDR2 533. It supports RAID Levels 0, 1, 5, 10, Single Disk, JBOD. This is a true hardware RAID controller card as it's having on-board I/O RISC processor. It's like a small dedicated computer on your PCI Express slot for RAID operation. RAID quality can be achieved either via pure software (puts all burden on motherboard processor) or via firmware solution (puts comparively less burden on motherboard processor) or via pure harware solution (puts comparatively least amount of burden on motherboard processor). That is why pure hardware RAID controller cards are again comparatively the most expensive one. For example this card (3ware 9650SE-4LPML) has a price tag of 329 USD.

MegaCam By ABS

Webcams is quite a mature technology and ABS has decided to jump in for innovation. This ordinary looking webcam can be used for regular use but it has to offer killing features. This camera comes with features such as infrared LEDs to make it able to see in the dark, two-way audio (external speaker required), the ability to scan and pan, and intelligent motion detection. To monitor up to sixteen cameras a free software package has been included. So it is a fair alternative for an expensive security system. It can be used with CAT 5 OR CAT 6 cable or wireless plus it can be hosted on the net which gives you remote monitoring. It is best deal in this camera culture that offers you to save a lot of bucks.

Wireless N Router By TRENDnet

Wireless-N routers are getting popular on a good pace; these routers provide speed increase over previous wireless standards given you own a proper adapter. TRENDnet has released the latest 450Mbps Wireless-N Router. It has been quite attractive for a network shared by many users due to it's raw power. This router costs more than average. A lot of manufacturers have wireless N routers line, but just a few of them reach the 450Mbps mark. The three antennas on it give the router three spatial streams at a channel width of 40 MHz. It is expected to see a throughput of 200Mbps as the theoretical speed is quite difficult to obtain. Compared to the 54Mbps (theoretical max) that Wireless G routers offer, this is a huge improvement. So wires will be a past now due to this technology.
